I am passionate about bringing yoga to individuals, relationships, and communities! One meaning for the word yoga is union. This is derived from the Sanskrit word yuj, which means ‘to yoke’; working together for a common purpose. Yoga can be a way to unite or connect: breath to movement; mind, body, and spirit; or in community.

I teach from a trauma-informed lens as I see the importance of understanding the many reasons someone may come to their mat. Yoga is a way to connect within, to connect with the Divine or whatever serves you, and to release trauma from the body.

I have been trained through Empowered Yoga Teacher Training™ and Transcending Sexual Trauma through Yoga. I am certified as a Prenatal Yoga Teacher through Ma Yoga ®. Find out more about Prenatal Certification here. Further, I have been trained by Dr. Brenda Ingram Ed.D., LCSW on the Neurobiology of Trauma, Trauma-Informed Care, and Trauma-Informed Classroom Management. I have been trained on the Community Resiliency Model ® through the Trauma Resource Institute. I have taken a course with Stephen Porges as well on Polyvagal Theory and integrating neural exercises for safety and connection. Through Transcending Sexual Trauma, the following elements are included in a trauma-informed class:

  • Empowerment-based Language and Integration of Choices
    • This is your body, your practice, and always your choice
  • Supportive Presence
  • The Art of Assisting (no physical adjustments, only nurturing touch with consent)
  • Safety and Space
  • Invitation of Postures
  • Breath and Trauma
  • Sensitivity to Triggers
  • Themes and Philosophy Integration
  • Cultural Considerations and Accessibility

I hope to see you in one of my classes listed below. I also offer private sessions so we can move through what you need.
